The Process
STEP 1: Casing Inspection
Our process begins with sourcing high quality casings
from all around Australia. An initial inspection is done to reject all older casings. The
remaining casings are then thoroughly inspected for bead damage, cracks, tears or
bruising. Any tyres that do not meet our stringent requirements are rejected.
STEP 2: Buffing
The tyre is then put on our buffing machine where it
is checked for symmetry. Any out-of-round tyres are rejected. Remaining tyres are then
machine buffed and prepared for a new layer of rubber.
STEP 3: New Toyo Hi-Tech Rubber
After buffing, the tyre is then inspected again for
any faults. If it passes this inspection we apply a special bonding solution to prepare
the tyre for the layers of new rubber. We only use Toyo Hi-Tech Retread Rubber.
Toyo has a strong reputation in the manufacture of high performance car tyres and their
compound technology flows through to their retread rubber. This tough and highly durable
compound resists shreding and tearing on hardpack and rocks while still being soft enough
to give great grip and avoid 'walking' or 'squirming'.
STEP 4: Moulding

The tyre then receives a special curing tube and is
placed into a mould for the particular tyre size. The tyre is subjected to high air
pressure and approximately 150 degree celcius heat for 40 - 50 minutes to bond the new
rubber and casing together. After coming out of the mould it looks like a new tyre. It is
inspected once more before being trimmed.
